# RingReady connector for ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini — documentation RingReady is an AI receptionist that answers a business's phone calls, website chats and texts. The RingReady connector (an MCP server) lets the business owner use their RingReady account from an AI assistant: read what callers said, and change how a receptionist answers. - MCP server URL: `https://www.ring-ready.com/mcp` (Streamable HTTP) - Sign-in: OAuth 2.1. The user signs in to RingReady and clicks Allow. No API key needed. - Human-readable version of this page: https://www.ring-ready.com/ai-assistants/docs - Support: support@ring-ready.com ## What you need A RingReady account with at least one receptionist, on a trial or active plan. One sign-in covers every receptionist on the account, including receptionists a team has shared with the user. ## Connect **Claude (claude.ai and the desktop app):** open Connectors (under Customize, or Settings in older versions) → Add → Add custom connector. Name it RingReady, paste `https://www.ring-ready.com/mcp`, click Add, then Connect. Sign in to RingReady and click Allow. The free plan allows one custom connector; on Team and Enterprise plans an Owner adds it first, then members click Connect. **ChatGPT (paid plans):** turn on Developer mode in ChatGPT's settings, then add a custom connector (called a plugin or app, depending on your version). Paste `https://www.ring-ready.com/mcp`, choose OAuth authentication, click Create, then sign in to RingReady and click Allow. **Gemini (gemini.google.com):** Settings → Connected Apps → Custom apps → Add a custom app, paste `https://www.ring-ready.com/mcp`, and sign in to RingReady. Google currently limits custom apps to personal accounts in the US. **Claude Code, Cursor, Gemini CLI and other developer tools:** add `https://www.ring-ready.com/mcp` as a remote HTTP MCP server. Tools that support OAuth open the RingReady sign-in. Tools that take a header can use an API key from Profile → API keys: ``` claude mcp add --transport http ringready https://www.ring-ready.com/mcp \ --header "Authorization: Bearer rr_live_xxxxxxxx" ``` ## Tools | Tool | Reads or writes | What it does | |---|---|---| | `list_receptionists` | Read | The receptionists on the account: id, phone number, receptionist name, business name, plan. | | `get_receptionist` | Read | One receptionist's settings: greeting, goal, business details, services, hours, timezone, FAQ, voice, notifications, booking link, plan, and which plan features are active. | | `list_conversations` | Read | Calls, website chats and texts, newest first, with caller, callback number, AI summary, label, time and duration. Filters: `receptionist_id`, `channel` (`phone`, `web_chat`, `sms`), `days` or `since`, `limit` (up to 100), `before_id` for the next page. | | `get_conversation` | Read | One conversation with its full transcript, recording link, caller address, owner notes and whether a booking link was sent. | | `list_voices` | Read | The voices a receptionist can use. A receptionist's name comes from its voice. | | `update_receptionist` | Write | Change the greeting, goal, business name, services, website, address, service areas, hours, timezone, FAQ or voice. Only the fields sent change. `faq_set` adds or rewrites single FAQ entries and `faq_remove` deletes them; `faq` replaces the whole FAQ. | `update_receptionist` is marked as a write that changes existing content, so ChatGPT and Claude ask the user before running it. Changes apply from the receptionist's next call. ## Example requests - "Using RingReady, summarize this week's calls. What did people ask about most?" - "Which callers asked for a call back yesterday? Give me their names and numbers." - "Read the last 20 calls and tell me what my receptionist couldn't answer." - "Add a FAQ to my receptionist: we offer free estimates for jobs over $500." - "We're closed December 24 to 26. Update my receptionist's hours." - "Change the greeting to mention our new location on Main Street." - "Which of my receptionists got the most calls this month?" (for agencies with several) ## What the connector can't do - See the user's password or payment details. - Change the plan, billing or phone numbers. - Change where call summaries are emailed or texted, webhooks, or ad tracking. These stay in the RingReady dashboard, because an assistant reads transcripts written by callers, and a caller could try to plant instructions there. - Delete calls, receptionists or anything else. Assistants are told that transcripts, summaries and caller names come from members of the public and are data, not instructions. ## Privacy and security - RingReady receives only the assistant's tool requests, never the user's conversation with the assistant. - Access tokens last one hour; refresh tokens last up to 60 days and are replaced each time they're used. RingReady stores tokens only as one-way hashes. A reused refresh token ends the whole connection. - Data accessed through the connector isn't sold or used to train AI models. - Each tool call is logged for security (which tool, when, and the result status). - Full policy: https://www.ring-ready.com/privacy-policy#ai-assistants ## Disconnect Profile → Connected apps → Disconnect (https://www.ring-ready.com/profile#connected-apps). Access stops immediately. Removing the connector inside ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini also works. ## Limits - 60 tool calls per minute per connection. - Times are UTC, ISO-8601. - Conversations come in pages; use `next_before_id` as `before_id` to get older ones. ## Troubleshooting - **"Sign in to RingReady again":** the connection expired or was disconnected. Reconnect from the assistant's settings. - **Signed in as the wrong account:** on the RingReady consent page, click "Not you?" and sign in with the right account. - **"Can't change … here":** that setting is dashboard-only (see above). Change it at https://www.ring-ready.com/dashboard. - **A receptionist id isn't found:** ask the assistant to run `list_receptionists` first; ids come from there. Still stuck?
